Cynthia Houniuhi
President - Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change (PISFCC) alliance
Professional Bio
Cynthia Houniuhi is the President of the youth-led Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change (PISFCC) alliance. She was part of the group of 27 law students from the University of the South Pacific Law School in Vanuatu that campaigned to seek an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the issue of climate change and human rights. She has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the South Pacific and a Master of Laws specializing in Environmental Law and Sustainable Development from the University of New South Wales. She is a proud Solomon Islander, with a passion to advocate for greater protection for the rights of present and future generations in the climate crisis. She advocates so that her people can live with dignity without the fear of climate change denying them and their children of that freedom. Since August 2023, Cynthia and the Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change have been working closely with Save the Children to ensure children’s voices are included in Government submissions to the ICJ.
