Professional Bio
Lachlan Dawson is a Senior Policy Officer in the Disability Equity and Rights Section at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, which is leading development of Australia’s forthcoming International Disability Equity and Rights Strategy. Lachlan was deeply involved in organising the fully inclusive Strategy consultation process, including co-hosting in-person roundtables with organisations of persons with disabilities in Manila and Vientiane.
Lachlan has spent nearly a decade working with the Australian Government in human rights, social policy and disability equity. Previously, Lachlan represented Australia at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and the UN General Assembly in New York. He spent his early career working in disability policy and community engagement at the Department of Social Services in Canberra, Darwin and Perth. Lachlan holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University and a Master of Studies from the University of Oxford.
