Professional Bio
Ms. Lucy Esipila is the Policy and Advocacy Officer at Caritas Africa, based in Nairobi Kenya. Caritas Africa is Headquartered in Lome, Togo and groups together a network of 46 National Caritas Organisations in 46 Sub-Saharan African Countries.
Lucy has over 10 years’ experience working with Caritas at different levels. In her current role, she leads advocacy work in Africa region through the promotion of Integral Human Development
She has extensive experience in conducting advocacy work in UN spaces including the: Africa Regional Forum for Sustainable Development, the UNFCCC processes and the United Nations High Level Political Forum. She has additionally been actively engaging in policy dialogue, around the Africa Union and European Union Relations.
Before joining Caritas Africa, Lucy worked with the National Caritas in Kenya, for 1.5 years where she coordinated Research, Communications and Advocacy initiatives. Lucy also worked, for 6 years, at a Diocesan (Local) Caritas in Maralal- Samburu, County in Northern Kenya, where she implemented several development projects.
Her work has sought to contribute to policy dialogue with decision makers, civil society networks and local communities on social justice matters.
She an education background in Communications and Public Relations and; is currently studying Development, Diplomacy and International Security at Daystar University, in Kenya. She is currently writing a thesis on the Implementation of the African Union's migration agenda in Kenya and South Africa.
