Socheata is a feminist River Advocate; she has been advocating and creating spaces for women’s voices and agency to be visible in public space and policy development in Water Governance work in the Mekong over the past decade. As Oxfam’s Regional Manager of Mekong Water Governance Program, Socheata has been supporting solidarity, leadership and inclusion of women, particularly Indigenous women, at the centre of decision making, policy dialogue and planning, and systemic change. Socheata was instrumental in convening of Asia Women and Rivers Congress and other platforms for women leaders in the region to unite and strengthen their contribution to climate sustainable, gender transformative development.
