Tom is the Strategic Adviser – Foreign Policy at Equality Australia, a national organisation dedicated to equality for LGBTIQ+ people. Tom convenes a group of regional Asia and Pacific LGBTQIA+ networks to collectively influence Australia’s overseas engagement on LGBTQIA+ rights. He undertook successful advocacy with this group to secure Australia’s first international LGBTQIA+ strategy and dedicated LGBTQIA+ civil society fund, announced at the Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference by Penny Wong. In his career, Tom has focused on supporting local social movements to engage with foreign policy and development assistance agencies, including DFAT and NGOs, and has worked across the LGBTQIA+ and disability movements.
