Miriam Moriati
President - Rotaract Youth of Kiribati
Professional Bio
My name is Miriam Moriati, and I’m 21 years old. I come from Kiribati, a small, isolated country in the Pacific. Growing up in Kiribati, I experienced firsthand experience on the devastating impacts of climate change. This has inspired me to become involved in various climate-related projects. I’m currently the President of the Rotaract Youth of Kiribati, a youth club under Rotary International that focuses on empowering young people and teaching them about environmental service.
I’ve led the Rotaract Youth Club in projects such as video reporting on climate change, mangrove planting, and beach clean-ups. I believe that our youth have immense potential but often lack the training and knowledge they need. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to learn more on climate resilience in Australia and look forward to returning home to share my knowledge with our young people.
